Amazon Reimbursed Less Than Your Invoice Cost? Check the Sourcing Cost Before You Appeal
Amazon reimbursement lower than your invoice cost? Check the sourcing-cost value, accepted proof, and reimbursement transaction before you appeal.

If Amazon reimbursed less than your documented invoice cost, first check the sourcing-cost value attached to the FNSKU. If Amazon estimated it too low, gather acceptable proof of cost and review the reimbursement dispute path rather than comparing the payment with your retail price.
The policy change that affects the number
For eligible inventory lost or damaged before a customer order, Amazon announced that reimbursements are based on the product manufacturing cost. Amazon describes that as the cost to source the product from a manufacturer, wholesaler, reseller, or to produce it if you are the manufacturer.
That is different from retail selling price and it excludes several downstream costs such as shipping, handling, and customs duties.
Why sellers see a surprising reimbursement
If you mentally value a lost unit at its selling price, a reimbursement based on source cost can look dramatically lower. The right comparison is therefore the applicable Amazon reimbursement value versus the documented source cost—not versus revenue.
For renewed, bundled, or unusually sourced inventory, documentation quality becomes especially important because the source-cost story may be less obvious.
Keep a cost evidence layer
A useful recovery system needs more than inventory events. To estimate value accurately, it should also map FNSKU or SKU to a defensible sourcing cost and keep the evidence that supports that amount.
FluxPilot currently avoids inventing dollar estimates when sourcing-cost data is missing. The finding still appears, but the estimated recovery stays at zero until cost data is available.
